Cattle Drive

Cattle Drive Program: A Texan Way to Give

Cattle have a purpose in ranching operations, and when that purpose is no longer possible, the cattle can be donated to the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank for ground beef processing. Donations are tax-deductible and provide families with local beef.

In 2025, local ranchers, Alan and Leslie Schaffner, wanted to create a new way to give to the Food Bank that was unique to the Wichita Falls Area. Together with the Food Bank, a collaboration was made with Nocona Meat Company to supply families with local beef. This allows livestock owners to donate cattle for meat processing in a tax-deductible way. 1,400 pounds of ground beef were provided in 2025.

How It Works

Livestock owners donate cattle for meat processing.

Cattle are processed at Nocona Meat Company, a USDA-Certified Slaughterhouse.*

Ground beef is distributed to families across 12 counties.
